Right-arm pacer Tayla Vlaeminck’s superb show at warm-up match is just at the “Right Time” according to Australia’s bowling Coach Ben Sawyer. The 20-year old is the quickest bowler in the current Australian Ashes squad and Sawyer believes that the extra pace she has got is going to be very important for the team to tackle England’s strong batting line-up.
He said that she could be of huge advantage especially if a flat wicket is prepared for the upcoming Ashes Test. He added that her average bowling speed puts her in the same company with the world’s fastest woman bowler, the white Ferns’ Lea Tahuhu. Sawyer also revealed that all of her rehabilitation from the injury was focused around making sure she’d be fit and firing for the Test match and hopefully she is peaking at the exact right time.
Meanwhile, speaking after the two-day warm-up game, Vlaeminck admitted that her thoughts were strayed towards the potential of a Test debut.
