Arran, who is the coach of Ownby CC Trojans, had to step in as they were short of a player in their playing 11. When the opposite team Nettleham Cricket Academy XI got bowled out for 141 runs, Arran and Harry stepped out to open the innings. They put up an extraordinary opening partnership of 143 runs in 32.3 overs and won the game by 10 wickets.

While Arran scored 94 runs in 101 balls and hit 17 boundaries, her son Harry remained unbeaten at 32 runs which he made from 98 balls and hit 4 boundaries too. The 12-year-old Harry also picked up 4 wickets in 10 overs in the first innings of this local league.

“In terms of any experience like that as a parent, you’re as proud as punch,” Brindle told Britain’s PA news agency.

When Arran was asked if Harry enjoyed batting with his mother or not, she replied “I think so, he came off and he had a big smile on his face. He did what he needed to do – we rotated the strike (and) he was able to put away the bad balls at the start.”
