Ellyse Perry confident of a victory against India in their Pink-Ball Test game at WACA

Australian all-rounder Ellyse Perry feels that the pink-ball D/N Test match at WACA ground, Perth, will favor the hosts. She feels that because the pitch gives extra pace and carry, it will be an advantage for the Aussies women.

Australia won their game when they last played at Perth, thereby defeating England women in 2014. Perry scored 71 runs and took 8 wickets in the tournament, and as a result, was named the Player of the Match.

“Playing a Test match there before — it’s an absolutely wonderful venue for a women’s Test. The pitch provides that little bit of extra pace and bounce, the ball carries through really well, there’s a little bit of sideways movement Perry was quoted as saying to cricket.com.au.

On their tour to Australia, Indian women will be playing their first-ever day-night pink-ball Test, which will also be their second Test match in this calendar year. Earlier it was decided that the Indian women will tour Australia for a bilateral series, then reports said that they’ll play their second test match of the year against Australia, an event that would take place for the first time in 15 years.

The Test match is scheduled to take place at the WACA ground in Perth. The test match will be jammed between the three-match ODI and three-match T20I series, as was confirmed by Cricket Australia in their official release.

Although Perry didn’t have the best season last year, the Australian bowling attack has been terrifying, and probably one of the best. Adding to that, she said: “That’s certainly in (our) favor… our conditions and the Australian style of cricket but having said that, looking at the Indian team, some of the skills of their players, particularly their batters, it’s going to be a really well-contested Test match and a great opportunity for both sides.”

“(Playing four fast bowlers) would be really dependent on the conditions and how the wicket presents at the time but one of the great things about the group and the way it’s evolving is there are some wonderful players coming through. Certainly, some great young quicks but I think equally our spin stocks are just as exciting,” Perry concluded.

The three ODIs will be held at two venues namely the North Sydney Oval and the Junction Oval. The former will host the first ODI on 19th September and the latter will host the remaining games on 22nd and 24th September. The two teams will then move to Perth’s WACA Ground for the Test Match which is scheduled from 30th September to 3rd October. The teams will be back at the North Sydney Oval for their three T20Is which will be played on October 7th, 9th, and 11th.
