USA Cricket: Women’s National & Women’s National Under 19 Training Groups to be announced soon

USA Cricket announced a number of selection updates across Men’s, Women’s, and Youth cricket in the United States recently.

The global pandemic caused by COVID-19 disrupted different walks of life, including sports. With respect to cricket in the United States, there was no action for nearly a year. In order to make up for the lost time, the cricket board in the country has scheduled important training sessions and matches for all USA National Teams this year.

The National Selection Panels and the Cricket Committee have put in a lot of hard work to give the best to Men’s, Women’s, and Youth teams in terms of practice and game time. Their main aim is to ensure that the cricketing action is resumed and it kick starts in full flow.

Though the women’s team is not a part of the elite league that plays ICC events, there is enough evidence that there are many girls who play cricket in the United States and it is just a matter of time when there will be an addition of the national team in the ICC scheme of things.

From the Women’s National Training Group & Women’s National Under 19 Training Group standpoint, there is some good news. Though the Women and Girls Talent ID Events were initially cut short due to COVID-19 in the first three months of 2020, they were safely completed in the last three months of the year. These events have given USA Cricket a wider pool of Women & Girls to choose from and there are plans being made to pick a larger Women’s National Training Group. Also, it will be for the first time that a Women’s Under 19 Training Group will be selected. Both National Training Groups will train within regionalized hubs in their geographic Zone.

The purpose for having Women’s National Training Group as well as Women’s Under 19 National Training Group is to ensure that there is substantial development within the already strong areas of women’s cricket across the country, which is possible due to added competition.

As of now, the two new Training Groups have not been announced. The announcement for the same will be made formally by USA Cricket soon.
