Toss – Won by Melbourne Stars Women and elected to bowl first

1st Innings Summary – Put into bat first, Adelaide Strikers decided to play attacking cricket and lost two crucial wickets early. But the recovery process was even faster as opener Sophie Devine along with Bridget Patterson added 131 runs for 3rd wicket before Devine got out on the last ball of 19th over. The partnership included eight 4s and six 6s. While Devine took the charge of playing aggressively, Bridget also reached her half-century in 42 balls. For bowling side, except Annabel Sutherland, economy rate of all bowlers remained above 6 per over.

2nd Innings Summary – Chasing a big total, Melbourne Stars kept loosing wickets at regular intervals. Almost all the batters got starts but could stay long on the crease. Melbourne Stars showed the intend to keep the required run rate well within the check but due to lack of stability and no significant partnership, they lost a close fight. Sophie Devine was magical with the ball as well and took first five wicket haul of this year’s edition of the tournament to ensure another win for her team.
