Interestingly, Cricket was one of the sporting codes approved by the sports ministry and Laura adds that she misses the smell of grass and is eager and excited to return to training. She added that “I think as soon as we can start playing and getting back together again‚ it would be full steam towards (preparing for) that tournament”.

Laura is just-21-years-old and has been a member of the South African side for four years. There have been numerous speculations in the media around changes in the ICC calendar. The most eminent of these have been around IPL and BCCI’s desire to see the tournament in the world cup slot. On the reports indicating changes, Laura said “Nothing is going to change in our minds. We are still fully convinced it is going to happen and going to prepare for it as if it is happening in January”.

She was not only planning for 2021 but 2022 was in her mind too. She, as per HeraldLIVE, was looking ahead to have a go at 2022 Twenty20 World Cup. The tournament is scheduled in South Africa. Further, there is also the Commonwealth Games to be hosted in Birmingham‚ England‚ later in 2022 as well. She said that “I think it will be great to regroup again and discuss all the plans moving forward and continue with our ODI plans for the World Cup in January”. It has to be noted that women in the South African side had to face West Indies in May but the pandemic had different plans.
