NSW appoints Leah Poulton as head of Female Cricket

Former Australian cricketer Leah Poulton has been appointed as the head of Female Cricket at Cricket New South Wales.

Cricket NSW is at the helm of a major restructuring program to better align its female and male pathways. In her new role, Poulton will be required to oversee all elements of NSW’s female development program.

“Cricket NSW has been a big part of my life for the past 20 years. It feels great to be coming home, NSW has an amazing history of innovation and success, I’m looking forward to working with our staff, athletes, and communities to ensure we continue this great history.”

A four-time Belinda Clark Medal winner with the NSW Breakers, 36-year-old Poulton has resigned as Cricket Australia’s women’s high-performance coach and Women’s Big Bash League Head Coach at Melbourne Stars to take up the position. She had joined the Melbourne Stars very recently in March.

“While it’s not ideal to accept a position and move on so quickly, the head of female cricket role at Cricket NSW was too great an opportunity to pass up,” Poulton said.

“I’d like to thank the Stars for everything over the past couple of months,” she added.

The 36-year-old has played two tests and 88 limited over internationals in her six-year-long international career.
