Nat Sciver was an outstanding player on the English side in the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup. She scored 436 runs in 9 matches with 2 centuries against Australia. She scored 108 in the league match and an unbeaten 148 in the final. She was the lone wolf in the England batting during the final.
Sharing her thoughts on the Final’s defeat, Sciver said, “When you’re chasing 357, there’s only one way you can play it. Our batters had already got us off to a really good start. I was about a bit scratchy at the start and Knight was hitting it nicely. So, I stuck in there. But I guess when you’re chasing a big score, the mentality of scoring runs takes care of itself. You know that you need to be in there for a long time. You need to score boundaries where you can.”
Speaking on her 65 run partnership with Charlie Dean for the 9th wicket. Sciver said that she told Dean to stay with her as long as possible so that they can go as near as possible to the target. We just need a couple of 50+ run partnerships. If we had got that, the story might have been different.
Sharing her final thoughts on the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup tournament, Sciver said, “This tournament was unbelievable. The number of close matches made the event exciting. I don’t remember another tournament like this. The competitiveness in women’s cricket has reached a whole new level and it’s great to see that. The number of upsets in this tournament showed how awesome this world cup was. I certainly expect that teams like Bangladesh, Srilanka, and other young teams to play more cricket so that the competitiveness increases.”

England finished the World Cup as the runners-up as they lost to Australia in the final by 71 runs. They’ll now be getting ready to play bilateral series throughout the year and will be looking to continue their World Cup form in the T20 World Cup coming up in February 2023 in South Africa.
