Video: Bismah Maroof dedicates Half-Century to her 6 Month Old Daughter

Pakistan captain Bismah Maroof has had an eventful start to the world cup. She won the hearts of fans with her daughter Fatima after Sunday’s match against team India. Today, on the field, Bismah Maroof set some big records for Pakistan.

First stitched in a 99 run partnership with Aliya Riaz for the 5th wicket when is the highest partnership for Pakistan women in world Cup going past Maliha Hussain and Sharmeen Khan 84 run partnership in 1997 World Cup. Later, she scored her career’s fifth and first World Cup fifty and celebrated it with a cradle celebration dedicated to her 6-month-old daughter Fatima.

She also became the first woman to score fifty against Australia in the world cup. Bismah ended up unbeaten at 78 and took Pakistan to 190 in 50 overs. She along with Aliya Riaz who scored an impressive 53 brought back Pakistan to the game after they were reduced to 44 for 4 after 13 overs.

In her 78 run innings, Maroof scored 8 beautiful boundaries through third man and mid-off region and kept the scoreboard moving. She was the reason Pakistan was able to reach a reasonable score of 190.

Bismah who’s been a part of the Pakistan unit since 2006 has scored 2695 runs in 107 innings at an average of 28.67. She has scored 15 fifties with 99 against South Africa in 2015 being her best. She is the first Pakistani woman to score 1000 ODI runs.

The Pakistan Captain has led the side in 19 ODIs winning 10 of them. She took a break from cricket from April to December 2022 and gave birth to her daughter in August 2021. She was given back her captaincy through PCB parental policy allowing her to continue leading the side.
