Although this wasn’t their first series win in New Zealand it has more impact because the World Cup is due in 20 days and such victories help the side to gain confidence and build momentum.

Along with the series win, many records were also shattered. In the final match of the series, South Africa won toss and elected to field first, New Zealand got off to a slow start and the Proteas bowlers maintained the pressure while taking wickets consistently, Batters Suzie Bates and Sophie Devine tried to gain momentum but soon Sune Luus’s fiery spell helped the proteas to completely dominate over the hosts, she bagged wickets of Amelia Kerr, Hayley Jensen, Katey Martin, and Leigh Kasperek after those of Katie Perkins and Bates.

With a below-par score to chase, proteas openers Lizelle Lee (20) and Laura Wolvaardt (26) made 40 runs for the first wicket. Their depth in batting helped the side to chase smoothly and clinch the victory. This series win has led the South African side to climb up to 3rd position in the ICC Women’s Championship table with 22 points from 18 matches.
