Head to Head : India women vs West Indies women at World Cup

6-0
No, it’s not the scorecard of any football match, rather it’s the head to head record of India vs. West Indies in Women World cups. Both the teams have been playing each other since 1993 world cup and Caribbean ladies have failed to clinch any victory from India till now. While this fact can put India ahead of their opposition for the match but we need not forget that this West Indian side is completely different than the previous sides, full of competitive mentality. And team India should not forget the defeat last year in their hand in World T-20. So though the odds are against the favor of the West Indies but this West Indies side has the potential for the victory.

India Women vs West Indies Women - Head to head matches

If we look at the teams, team India is flying high as they have defeated the host England in their last match while West Indies have lost to the defending World Champion, Australia. Team India, with their top heavy batting lineup, comprising with Mandhana, Raut and Raj, all in their pick of form will be surely looking for another great start in their innings. Their bowling was pretty decent, as seen in the last match and they ticked all the boxes there. Pacer Jhulan and all rounder Sikha Pandey did their job in the front while spinner did the rest in the middle over. Still there are things that India need to keep in mind before their match.

Due to their first three, middle order and lower middle order have not been tried yet. We need to see what will be response of the middle order if the top order collapses quickly before the matches like Australia or New Zealand. Indian ground fielding was superb in the last match as they picked up 4 run outs but they need to grab the changes coming in form of catches, failing of those can cause the match.

On the other hand almost everything went wrong for WI in their last match. They failed to put good runs on the board, failed to pick up wickets in front, which ultimately cost them the match. They will not like to repeat the mistake against India. They need to send the openers of India cheaply and put pressure on the middle order. And as per as batting is concerned they have to depend on the players like Hayley Mathews, Stefanie Taylor or Deandra Dottin , all of them have the ability to win the match for WI single-handedly. Having said that, spinner Anisa Mohammed will have to play a big role in their bowling to restrict India.

So, though the odds are against the WI that doesn’t imply India can take them lightly, which can cost them the match. On the other hand West indies bring best out of them to beat a team, who have lost only one match in last 18 matches.
