Australian women and White Ferns have shared a touch of rivalry amongst them. Cricket fans always enjoy Trans-Tasmanian tussle and the Rose Bowl series is no less. The third and final installment of the series was played at Brisbane. While Aussies were looking to get a clean sweep, New Zealand was in with a chance as well. Australian side lacked their skipper Meg Lanning and the star all-rounder was absent from the complete series.
Aussies were made to bat first and it would be correct to say that their bats did all talking. The top-order fired and the middle-order was up and running for the challenge as well. In the absence of Lanning, Rachael Haynes was captaining the side. She went to the Brisbane pitch to have the first ball of the match on her bat. Alyssa Healy accompanied her. Both the openers were positive with their approach and the made the most of the sublime touch that they were in. It was only after half of the Aussie inning that they lost a wicket, the opening stand went on for 144 as Healy was dismissed for run-a-ball 87. Haynes and Sutherland got the score ticking and her cameo got Australia on a strong platform to accelerate upon. Sutherland was gone at 222 and Aussies had a settled Haynes on the crease. She, too, was departed soon and missed her century by four runs. Ashleigh Gardner was quick with the bat and got 34 off 20 balls. She got 2 maximums in her outing. Beth Mooney got 29 off 19. Tahlia McGrath was the star of the Australian finish. In 11 balls, she got 29 runs including 4 fours and 1 six. Amelia Kerr was the pick of the bowler for New Zealand as she got three wickets at an impressive economy of 5.

New Zealand skipper Sophie Devine was caught off Molineaux on her first ball. Schutt set the tone for the rest of the innings and the trend continued. Only Satterthwaite and Moe Green could go into double figures. New Zealand was all out for 93. The highlight was the Aussie attack as all the bowlers got wickets for their team. With this win, Australia registered their biggest victory in the ODI format. She got the better of their counterparts by 232 runs. New Zealand would have had to make a record in women’s cricket to chase the total.

Australians lacked two of their most experienced players namely Perry and Lanning. This win will give them a lot of confidence as they march towards bigger tournaments and especially the World cup where New Zealand would play host.
