Match 3 – England Captain Heather Knight & Smriti Mandhana Dominates KSL Opener vs Yorkshire Diamonds

Match 3 :- Western Storm Vs Yorkshire Diamonds

Toss – Won by Western Storm, elected to field first

Scorecard – YD : 162/5 (20overs) , WS : 166/3 (15.3overs)

Result – Western Storm won by 7 wickets

Put to bat first, YD batted well with D. Kinmince making a valuable half century and L.Winfield playing a captain’s knock of 41 off 29 balls. YD batters played attacking cricket and it was evident that they were well prepared for one of the best bowlers of WS as Shrubsole was hit for 32 runs in her alloted 4 overs. As a result of this, YD posted a competitive score of 162 runs and WS needed 163 runs to win from 20overs.

But if YD batted well, WS batted brilliantly as the partnership between India’s Smriti Mandhana (who made 48 runs off just 20 balls) captain Heather Knight (96 off 62 balls) took their team to the edge of winning the game very smoothly. Although both the batters were a bit unlucky as they could not complete their half century and century respectively but their contribution laid the foundation of their team’s emphatic win. Heather Knight was chosen as the Player of the match for her captain’s knock.
