Shemaine Campbelle (22) steadied the innings before Deandra Dottin's 26* off 16 lifted West Indies to 125/7 (20).
Ash Gardner, Georgia Wareham & Sophie Molineux all claimed two wickets each for Australia.
Australia lost Georgia Voll (16) and Phoebe Litchfield (4) early, but Beth Mooney kept the chase on track.
At 64/2, Ellyse Perry walked backed retired hurt and Mooney was joined by Ash Gardner who guided the team over the line.
Gardner smashed 35* (20), alongside Mooney, who struck 61*, sealing a 8-wicket win as Windies crashed out of the final race.
