Indian women’s cricket team spin bowler Sneh Rana who was brilliant with her turning straight balls on the first two days of the Bristol Test, dedicated her performance to her late father.
Rana’s father passed away two months ago, just a few days after that the team for the England series was announced.

Rana bowled a breathtaking spell on day 1 of the English test. Rana bowled the most number of overs on day 1, i.e., 29, and managed to take 3 wickets for the cost of 77 runs with an economy of only 2.7. and on day two she took one more wicket in the duration of two sessions. She along with Deepti Sharma kept putting pressure on the opponent and delivered for India whenever they were asked to.
“I lost him two months back, just before the team was announced. It was a bit emotional and a bit difficult out there because he really wanted to see me play for India again. He really wanted to see me in that India jersey again, but unfortunately, he couldn’t. It is a part of life. Whatever I have done since and whatever I am able to do for India after today, I will always dedicate it to my father,” said Rana, speaking to the media after stumps.

Further in the interview, when asked about the pitch and how it behaved on day one, she said, “The pitch was a bit slow right from the early stage of the game. It did help spinners since it was turning a bit. I did not try anything extra except for just sticking to my strengths. And I’m glad it worked out for us,”
Sneh got to know about her inclusion in the playing XI against England in the team meeting. “In the practice sessions, we used to speak to the captain (Mithali Raj) and coach (Ramesh Powar), on what to do, how to bowl, what needs to be done.”
