Team wise records made in 2017 edition of Women’s World Cup

England & Wales hosted 2017 edition of Women’s World Cup recently. From empty stands to full sold out matches, Women players have come along a long way in Cricket.

Many ‘never before’ performances were seen during this tournament and this resulted in breaking and making of a large number of records. Team wise summary of the same is as follows :-

1. Pakistan Women – Finished last in the points table but still achieved a few feats

● Pakistan Women made their highest team total of 206 runs in a World cup event
● Captain Sana Mir reached her 100 ODI cap
● Nahida Khan’s 79 is the highest score by any Pakistani batter in any WWC
● Nashra Sandhu’s 10-1-26-4 against India is the best bowling figures for Pakistan in an innings till date

2. Sri Lanka Women – Though placed 7th, this team has been among record holders a number of times
● Unforgettable 178* runs knock from Chamari Atapattu from just 143 balls against Australia is the highest individual score in this world cup and 2nd highest in WWC till date
● Highest 6th wicket partnership in 2017 WWC (76 runs) was between Srilankan batters MADD Surangika and LE Kaushalya
● Sri Lanka’s 15 runs win over Pakistan Women in Leicester is the 3rd closest win in this world cup from least runs margin point of view
● Best bowling figures for Sri Lanka in this tournament is of HHC Gunaratne

3. West Indies Women 
● WI women were bowled out for 48 runs by South Africa, which is the lowest team total since 1998/99 WWC
● Deandra Dottin made fastest West Indies century and fastest of WWC 2017 off just 71 balls
● 285/4 is the highest is the highest team total of WI women in this WC and their 2nd highest in all the WWCs till date
● Deandra Dottin and Stafanie Taylor played their 100th ODI match in league match against India

4. New Zealand Women – Going strong, their campaign was hampered by last league match against India Women
● NZ was bowled out for their lowest team total (79 all out) in WWC by India in Derby
● Amy Satterthwaite became 2nd fielder to take 8 catches in a single edition of WWC
● Sophie Devine and wicketkeeper batter Rachel Priest made 2nd and 3rd fastest fifties of this World Cup respectively
● Sophie Devine hit 9 sixes in 5 matches which is the 3rd most sixes by a player in this WC

5. South Africa Women – A heartbreaking semifinal loss to England choked their maiden WC final road but that could not stop them from registering their names in the record books of Women’s cricket
● SA Women won for the 1st time against India in a WWC event
● Captain Dan Van Niekerk became the 1st bowler (male/female) in international cricket to take 4 wickets without conceding a run with sensational bowling figures 3.2-3-0-4
● Most wickets in 2017 edition of WWC (15) were taken by Niekerk. Also she is the 1st captain to take 2 4-wicket hauls in single edition of WWC
● Lizelle Lee became only the 2nd player to hit 50 sixes in Women’s ODI. Also, she hit most sixes (12) in this world cup

6. Australia Women – It seems that they had some special connection with number 3 this time.
● 3 highest partnerships by wickets. I.e. 1st wicket partnership of 171 runs which is 3rd highest overall in this tournament, 9th wicket stand and 10th wicket partnership of 76 runs which is highest for 10th wicket in Women’s ODI
● Ellyse Perry made 404 runs in 8 matches which is 3rd highest runs of this world cup. Also, she has become 1st female player and 2nd overall to score 5 consecutive 50plus scored in single edition of World Cup
● Meg Lanning made a match winning 152* against SL which is 3rd highest individual score of this edition
● Kristen Beams took 3rd highest wickets (12) in 9 matches

From the above data one can easily interpret that 2017 edition of Women’s World Cup has been the Best as far as team performances and individual scores are concerned.
