Former Australia player Sarah Coyte to make WNCL comeback with ACT Meteors

All-rounder Sarah Coyte has signed on with ACT Meteors for the 2019-20 Women’s National Cricket League season marking her comeback to 50-over domestic cricket.

Coyte had retired from international cricket in 2016 to focus on her health after playing four tests and 77 limited-overs matches for Australia. Earlier, she made a stunning comeback to T20 format in WBBL03 and played for Adelaide Strikers in WBBL04.

Expressing her views on the new squad of Meteors, Cricket ACT General Manager Olivia Thornton said, “We have brought in some experience, through Sarah Coyte’s signing, and have contracted some younger players who will be looking to forge a name for themselves”. “When you combine youthful exuberance with older heads like Osborne, Reakes and Mack, it makes for a potent mix” she added.

Although the Meteors have lost the experience of key all-rounder Erin Burns, who has moved to NSW and left-arm spinner Sam Bates who has signed with Tasmania, Hayley Jensen will continue to train with the Meteors around her international commitments.

ACT Meteors squad is as follows:

Erin Osborne, Isabelle Afaras, Maitlan Brown, Zoe Cooke, Sarah Coyte, Nicola Hancock, Erica Kershaw, Claire Koski, Anna Lanning, Carly Leeson, Matilda Lugg, Katie Mack, Angela Reakes, Amy Yates
