Guyana Amazon Warriors Women remained unbeaten on opening Day of Women’s 6ixty

The Cricket West Indies (CWI) organized, The 6ixty is a T10 (10-over) cricket tournament that has so far seen all 3-team in its inaugural edition play a couple of matches each at St.Kitts and Nevis. Below we bring to you a report on the same.

Match – 1, Barbados Royals vs Trinbago Knight Riders

Royals put into bat first had Reniece Boyce run-out and walk back off the very first ball and then came an end to Hayley Matthews’ start on 15(9). Britney Cooper’s managed singles and the team at halfway mark were 37/2. A set Chloe Tryon shifted gears and stitched a 75 run-stand that saw curtains with her dismissed on 63(29). Aaliyah Alleyne’s 3-ball-8* had Barbados Royals post 108/4 on board with Copper unbeaten on 18(18).

Knight Riders in reply had Kycia Knight provide the team with a good start, but wasn’t the same on the other end as Natasha McLean on 1(5) walked back. Kycia on 21(12) walked back and retired hurt and after a brief defensive stay, both Kyshona Knight and Sune Luus on scores of 7(12) and 9(11) were dismissed in the 7th over by Hayley Matthews. The team fell 28 short of the required closing on 80/3 with Geetika Kodali and Hayley Jensen remaining unbeaten on 11(8) and 22(12). Qiana Joseph registered the best figures in the game of 2-0-5-1.

Match – 2, Guyana Amazon Warrior vs Trinbago Knight Riders

Guyana had Chamari Athapaththu give the team a good start but soon departed on 21(15). Rashada Williams and Stafanie Taylor’s run-a-ball show in the middle had the team push their scoring. Williams departed on 24(24) and the Stafanie thankful got a much-needed acceleration which got her team to finish on 81/2 with her unbeaten on 29(18). Sheneta Grimmond registered the best figures of 2-0-9-1.

Knight Riders in reply lost Natasha McLean early on 4(3). After a little partnership between the Knight sisters, Kyshona departed on 12(12) with 40 on board after 5. Hayley Jensen’s promotion saw her run-out on 5(3) and a wicket more in the same over of set Kycia Knight on 22(23) had Knight Riders in trouble being 57/4 after 7 overs. Sune Luus departed on 6(5) and Geetika Kodali’s dismissal on 3(9) saw the team lose their 6th wicket and that being considered all-out in the tournament had Trinbago close out on 66. Guyana Amazon Warrior won by 15 runs and had Shamilia Connell with 2 wickets lead the wickets chart.

Match 3, Barbados Royals vs Guyana Amazon Warriors

Barbados batting first put on a poor show as Reniece Boyce on 3(4) walked back. Hayley Matthews was next to depart on 7 (10). Chloe Tryon displayed maturity but after a little stitch, Chinelle Henry was dismissed on 6(7). Just as the Royals edged past 50, Chloe Tryon departed on 24(17). The team then lost Britney Cooper on 6(7) and Aaliyah Alleyne’s run-out on 5(10) had the team lose their 6 and with that considered all-out, their innings came to an end on 58. Guyana had Cherry-Ann Fraser registered stunning figures of 2-0-6-3.

Guyana Amazon Warriors in reply had Chamari Athapaththu run out on 1(2). Stafanie Taylor’s 33*(24) alongside, opener Rashada Williams’ 24*(24) had the Warriors chase down the total in 8 overs to register a 5-wicket win and with back-to-back wins are on the top of the points table.
