Sophie Molineux ready to switch gears to upcoming Ashes T20 series

Still riding high on her dream debut in the baggy Green last week, Australia’s all-rounder Sophie Molineux is confident that Australia can quickly make the switch back to the shortest format of the game as they look to continue their undefeated run in the multi-format women’s Ashes.

Excited about the upcoming T20 Ashes series, she said, “I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in the last week, we’ve still got a big job to do. So we’re all pretty focused and at the same time we’re really enjoying it.”

Going into the T20 leg of the Ashes series, the Southern Stars would look to shuffle the record books as they can become the first team to ever defeat England’s women at their ‘fortress’, the Essex County Ground in Chelmsford. Also, if they win all three 20-over matches, can become the first team to go through a multi-format women’s Ashes series undefeated.

Mentioning the probable challenge for her team with the kind of support English team gets from the locals, she said, “It sounds like there’s going to be a strong contingent of English people there supporting them, so to go against the grain and pinch that one would mean a lot.”
