Thailand Women’s T20 Smash Competition is being organised in Thailand from January 12.

9 countries will have their participation in the competition.

When Nepal’s captain Rubina Chhetri and her Chinese counterpart LI HAOYUE along with the match referee will be present on the ground for the toss on their respective Jersey, Nepal Women’s team will make their T20 International debut.

Nepal will face neighbouring country China in the first game in the competition. China has already played 3 T20 International games.

Earlier, Nepal National Team (Men) has got the recognition of one-day international team for four years.

The International Cricket Council, in the year 2018, made a decision to allow all the ICC member nations to provide the T20 international status from 1st of January 2019. After this, 105 men’s cricketing playing nation and 46 women’s cricket playing nation has been granted with this status.

In the absence of cricket governing body in the country, men’s cricket team is getting support from the private sector with three private franchise league along with many other local tournaments. But the cricket activities for the women’s team are close to negligence.

For women’s cricket, there is no environment to invest. Therefore, women’s cricket has not been able to perform significantly. Meanwhile, women cricket team Captain Rubina Chhetri said that the women player has to prove they have the ability to play the world cup, before going to Thailand.

In the conversation with the media, Captain Rubina Chhetri told that team there has been a lot of improvement in all three sides; batting, bowling and fielding after the arrival of Binod Das as a coach. “Being a player and a former captain of the national team, he has given a significant emphasis on the game plan to fitness. I could learn from him as a captain too,” Rubina added.

While playing the first international tour in the 14 months, both captain and coach had the challenge to choose a team. But, in spite of without any domestic competition, even in the absence of remuneration, it is a favourite part of the player’s presence in the close camp. She has been conveying information from Facebook regularly so that no one misses the opportunity to play and learn while getting the opportunity. South African cricketer Jonty Rhodes had also coached for few days on his tour to Nepal earlier.
