Match 6 – ICC Women’s World T20 Warmups 2018 – Australia Women vs South Africa Women

Sixth match was played between Australia and South Africa, where Australia outperformed Dane’s team completely and clinched the match with a whooping 46 runs.

Electing to bat, Australia posted 130-4 in 20 overs. Although they didn’t start off the game really well but they made a comeback with the help of Meg Lanning. It was more of one woman army show where Lanning spared no bowler. Runs were raining out of her bat at a time when it was needed the most. She came to bat at no.5 when Australia was 8-3. And played one of best inning of her career under pressure. She scored 65 runs (not out) in 51 balls with eight boundaries and 1 six. This was definitely a captain’s knock.
The other two main contributors were Beth Mooney (24 runs) and R Haynes (29 runs not out). S Ismail took 2 wickets by giving 19 runs in 4 overs.

While chasing this total South Africa women lost 9 wickets for 84 runs in 20 overs. The only three batswoman who scored double digit score were C Tyron (14 runs), M du Preez (13 runs) and Sune Luus (11 runs). Jess Jonassen proved to be the most successful bowler by taking 3 wickets in 3 overs by giving 11 runs with an economy rate of 3.7
