England unbeaten throughout the league stage games when turned up for the semifinal against India failed to make early inroads as India right from ball cleared intentions and the carnage that Smriti Mandhana took charge of saw India score 64-runs in the powerplay. The scoring in the middle overs after a couple of quick wickets fell, did take a little pause as India were playing risk-free cricket in looking to stitch a partnership. The pair of Jemimah Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma provide a fitting finish with a 56-off 36-run partnership which saw India get to a competitive total of 164. England in reply had a good couple of overs at the start, but Sophia Dunkley’s wicket for England on 19(10) gave India a timely breakthrough, but England still made the most of the powerplay overs as they finished on 58-1. England then lost wickets of set batters, first Alice Capsey and then Danni Wyatt which restricted them from playing aggressive cricket and had to move into a shell. The pair of Nat Sciver and Amy Jones got England well in the game but India again created run-outs just in time and both set batters took a long walk back. England having not had a set batter for a finish found themselves short by a boundary, 4 runs which had their dreams of Gold at Games in the home edition of Commonwealth Games come crashing.

New Zealand and Australia contesting for a spot in the Gold medal match couldn’t bring their A game on display as an ordinary batting outing resulted in the side’s defeat. Batter in-form, Suzie Bates being dismissed on a golden duck saw the side have the worst possible start. Despite being 2 down in the powerplay they managed 39 runs, but post-powerplay just couldn’t build an aggressive partnership and risk-free cricket got them building towards a decent total. Both set batters, Amelia Kerr and Sophie Devine failed to get going in providing a strong finish and Halliday’s 16(10) helped the side post a total of 144. Australia in reply didn’t have a good start as within powerplay overs both Alyssa Healy and Meg Lanning had made their way back to the dugout. Batters Beth Mooney and Tahlia McGrath as a pair termed famously as McMooney got Australia back in the contest with a brilliant 56-run stand. The pair of Grace Harris and Ashleigh Gardner then finished the game for Australia getting to the required 145 with 3 balls to spare. The win now sees Australia play in the Gold medal match alongside India and have put New Zealand in the same brackets as England to contest for the Bronze medal.

A rematch of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2022 will be the Commonwealth Games final that’ll see India and Australia lock horns. The medal colours have differed, but with England, Australia, India, and New Zealand in the semifinal it’s the expected 4 who’ll soon be contesting in women’s cricket debut edition at the Commonwealth Games.
