Former South African Women all-rounder Theunissen-Fourie dies in road accident

On 5th April 2019, South Africa lost its former Woman cricketer Elriesa Theunissen-Fourie in a tragic road accident in Stilfontein, North West. The all-rounder was just 25 years old and also lost her child in the unfortunate incident.

Expressing his shock, Cricket South Africa chief executive Thabang Moroe said that this is a dreadful tragedy in the true sense and it is devastating for all of them. He also said that even at such young age, Elriesa did so much for the community and gave excellent service both as a national player and in the work she did at grassroots level to help the less fortunate communities.

Conveying his condolences on behalf of the CSA family, he said, “I extend our deepest sympathy to her husband, Rudy, her family, friends and all her cricketing colleagues.”

The talented youngster had represented South Africa in three one-day internationals and one T20I.
