West Indies won the toss and elected to field first. The opening pair of Amy Ellen Jones and Tammy Beaumont started the proceedings for England and took some time to settle down in the middle before starting playing their shots and targeting West Indies bowler Hayley Matthews in particular.

Just after the end of the first powerplay, rain came pouring down halting the game right in the middle and subsequently reducing it to 39 overs. Both the batters changed their gears immediately after the rain break and hit multiple boundaries in next 5 overs. Although Beaumont was sent back to the dressing room in 16th over but Jones and Sarah Taylor carried on and did an 87-run partnership for 2nd wicket before the former was caught out on 80. English skipper Heather Knight took just 19 balls to reach 40 and thus took the total to 258 by the end of 39 overs.

Chasing a huge total of 267 (as per DLS calculation), West Indies kept on losing wickets on regular intervals and were never able to pick up the pace of making runs as the asking run-rate kept rising constantly and the entire team was bowled out for 131 in 37.4 overs.
